Welcome Prof. Hamilton Craig; Specialist Cardiologist
We are delighted to welcome Prof. Christian Hamilton-Craig to the Eden Private team!
Prof Christian Hamilton-Craig MBBS, PhD, FRACP, FCSANZ, FSCCT, FSCMR, FACC is a cardiologist with special training in non-invasive diagnostic imaging; he is a Level 3 (Directorial) expert in Echocardiography, Stress Echocardiography, TOE, Cardiac CT and Cardiac MRI.
He completed medical school at the University of Adelaide, and studied for his Honours thesis in Pharmacology at Trinity College, Cambridge University UK, before returning to Queensland to complete his cardiology training.
Prof. Hamilton-Craig has a PhD in Cardiac Imaging from the University of Queensland, and has been a Senior Staff Specialist at the The Prince Charles Hospital, Chermside, for over 10 years. In 2018 he relocated to the Noosa region, and is the director of Noosa Hearts Cardiology based at Noosa Hospital. He lives just outside Cooroy in the hinterland, and is now opening clinics and imaging services at Eden Private Hospital, Cooroy.
He also holds a special interest in Aboriginal Health, having been an active member in the Indigenous Cardiology Outreach Program for over a decade, servicing far remote Queensland communities as far as Morington Island, Lower Gulf, Doomadgee, Birdsville etc. This work won a Heart Foundation Award in 2014. He is the Chair of the CSANZ Guidelines Writing Committee on Coronary Artery Calcium Scoring, and is the Chair of the RANZCR/CSANZ Conjoint Committee for Certification in Cardiac MRI for Australia-NZ, and is the Queensland representative for the Australian Atherosclerosis Society.
Prof. Hamilton-Craig has academic posts at the University of Queensland, and as Professor of Medicine at Griffith University School of Medicine.
