Falls, unsteadiness and reduced mobility can significantly impact independence, confidence and quality of life. At Eden Private Hospital, our Falls & Balance Recovery Program is designed to help people experiencing a decline in physical function improve their balance, strength, mobility and ability to perform everyday activities safely.

Whether you have recently experienced a fall, are becoming less confident on your feet, or are noticing increasing difficulty with daily activities, our experienced rehabilitation team can provide tailored support to help you achieve the best possible outcomes. 

Who May Benefit from the Falls & Balance Recovery Program?

You may be suitable for the program if you are experiencing:

  • Recent deterioration in mobility, balance or walking ability
  • Increased difficulty with everyday activities such as showering, dressing, transfers or household tasks
  • Falls or near-falls related to an underlying medical condition
  • Reduced confidence or fear of falling
  • A decline in physical function where rehabilitation may help improve independence and safety

Common Signs of Functional Decline

Many people do not realise their mobility is changing until everyday tasks become more challenging. Signs that rehabilitation may be beneficial include:

  • Altered gait or increased reliance on furniture, walls or mobility aids
  • Muscle weakness, particularly in the lower limbs
  • Difficulty getting up from a chair, bed or the floor
  • Fatigue and reduced endurance

Submit a referral

Referrals should include:

  • A clear diagnosis
  • Description of recent deterioration or functional decline
  • Information about functional impacts, such as weakness, balance deficits or reduced ability to perform activities of daily living
  • An expectation that rehabilitation may lead to functional improvement
