Fees and Accounts

We accept patients with insurance from most private health funds, uninsured self-funded patients, Department of Veterans' Affairs recipients, or patients with approved WorkerCover cases.

Private health insurance

We have contracts with the majority of private health insurance funds. Before admission, we will verify your health fund details.

If your private health insurance does not fully cover your stay, we will let you know your estimated out-of-pocket expenses. You will need to pay this before admission. We accept all credit cards for payment of accounts and also offer Afterpay.

You are not required to pay the portion of your account covered by your private health fund. We will claim those benefits on your behalf. As part of our policy on informed financial consent, we will give you an estimate of your expenses and a form to sign.

Effective 1 April 2018, Australian Government changes to private health insurance coverage for mental health services will take effect.

Read about these changes, and how it may apply to you.

Uninsured self-funded patients

If you an uninsured, self-funded patient, you will need to pay a deposit based on an estimated length of stay of at least one week in advance. Our Admission team will give you more information about this as part of the admission process. For your convenience, we also offer Afterpay.

Department of Veterans' Affairs patients

Eden Private Hospital is a Tier 1 provider for the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA).

As part of this relationship, we provide a range of psychiatric and mental health services to eligible veterans and war widows, including:

  • Pre-admission and discharge planning support
  • Assistance co-ordinating and streamlining care
  • Referral to appropriate services and resources
  • General health and lifestyle education, and counselling

Veterans’ accounts and entitlements

If you are an eligible veteran or war widow, you must have your admission approved before admission. You will not receive an account for personal expenses for treatment at South Eastern Private Hospital. We will send this directly to DVA on your behalf.

DVA patients are responsible for calls made to mobile, long distance (STD) and international (ISD) numbers. Local calls are free. For pharmacy and personal items you have purchased, not related to your admission diagnosis, you will receive an account.

More information for DVA patients

For more information about DVA admission, contact the DVA on 133 254 or your local Veterans’ Affairs office on 1800 838 372. Visit DVA.

Workers compensation

If you are a workers compensation patient, you must have your claim approved before admission. Your workers compensation insurer will receive your account to pay us directly.
