How to access our hospital program

  • Ask your General Practitioner or Orthopaedic Surgeon to refer you to a program at our hospital.
  • Private health fund, DVA and WorkCover patients are accepted.
  • If you have an excess or co-payment with your health insurance, you will be required to pay this at the time of admission.
  • Self-funded patients will be required to pay at the time of admission.

Conditions affecting the heart and lungs, such as heart attacks, coronary procedures, pneumonia, bronchitis and pulmonary emboli may often have a substantial impact on your life.

Our experienced team of Exercise Physiologists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Dieticians, Speech Pathologists, Social Workers, and Psychologists will work in partnership with you, your GP, and your Rehabilitation Physician, to help you navigate through this challenging time.

We provide a structured yet personalised program to improve your physical condition, and provide you with the knowledge to get you back on your feet and living life.

Inpatient program structure

  • Initial assessment within 24 hours of admission by Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietitian, Social Worker, Psychologist and Rehabilitation Physician
  • Holistic team approach to treatment and supporting you following your accident
  • Daily therapy from all disciplines as indicated, six days a week (or as tolerated)
  • Discharge planning into a safe and supportive environment and referral into our specialised cardiac or pulmonary day program.

Our oncology program is designed to help you manage the physical and emotional impacts before, during and after treatment for your cancer, supporting you throughout your journey.

Our oncology rehabilitation program aims to reduce the impact of cancer treatments on the body and mind, and improve function in both day-to-day activities, and quality of life.

Orthopaedics

Following joint replacement, surgery after fracture, or severe cases of osteoarthritis it is normal to experience a decline in function and self confidence. Our orthopaedic program is designed not only to prevent this decline, but improve your capacity beyond your previous limitations.

Vestibular Rehabilitation

The role of the vestibular system is to sense self motion, orientate us to vertical, stabilise the head and control our centre of mass. People with vestibular dysfunction can present with dizziness, visual and balance disturbances, reduced mobility and anxiety. This can lead to reduced independence , decreased confidence to participate in social activities and social isolation.

Program structure

  • This program addresses both the immediate causes of dizziness and reduces the longer term consequences of living with dizziness such as decreased activity participation, deconditioning and falls.
  • It involves tailored specific exercise therapy targeting head and eye movements, balance and repeated exposure to provocative movements to desensitise the individual.
  • This program includes education and a review of the impacts of dizziness on quality of life and improves functional recovery.

Neurological

Our neurological program includes individually tailored treatment of various conditions such as Stroke, Parkinson's Disease, TIA, Neuropathy, Spinal Cord Injury, MS, and other issues which effect the brain or nervous system.

Neurological conditions can often have very sudden and life changing impacts on individuals and their families. The best patient outcomes are achieved when intervention in commenced as soon as possible after the neurological event.

At Eden Private Hospital, our Specialists and team of therapists are highly experienced in this area, and have the equipment, facilities, and skills to help you or your loved one regain the best possible physical and psychological function.

Reconditioning

Preventing functional decline and improving physical capacity following significant medical illness (or general surgery) will ensure you retain the ability to manage safely in your own residence, and reduce the risk of further admission into hospital.

At Eden Private Hospital we understand that many different circumstances can lead to a decline in an individual's physical function, and their ability to cope in their own environment. As we age it is extremely common to experience increasing trouble recovering following general surgery, or medical illness such as urinary tract infection, cellulitis, or even just a cold or flu.

The rehabilitation team are well aware of these issues, and also how to treat and prevent them. We'll help you return to your own home, and reduce risk of further deterioration, as quickly and as safely as possible.
