Psychiatric Registrar

Eden Private Hospital is a comprehensive medical, rehabilitation and mental health facility. Our experienced team of mental health professionals deliver positive outcomes to help people struggling with mental health concerns on the road to recovery. Our 24 bed mental health unit provides treatment for mood disorders, anxiety, depression and older adult conditions. We have designed our mental health facility to deliver care in the least restrictive manner. This allows patients to feel relaxed and comfortable, with patient safety our first priority.

We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Psychiatric Registrar to join our mental health team to provide expert assessment and management strategies for people with complex mental health disorders. Your day to day duties will include:

• Acute assessment and management of patients with mental illness and emotional problems including high prevalence disorders and complex co-morbid disorders. These include depression, anxiety and personality disorders, drug and alcohol use disorders and first presentation psychosis.
• Liaison and support to families and carers.
• Crisis intervention and liaison with police, ambulance, primary care, emergency departments and other agencies, working within a multidisciplinary team.

During your rotation(s) at Eden, you will be mentored and supervised by Psychiatrists who have had a significant number of years’ experience in inpatient psychiatry and have well established private outpatient practices. Eden specialises in General Adult Mental Health.

You will gain experience in the assessment and treatment of mental illness in presentations for people with high and low prevalence disorders and complex co-morbidities including medical illness such that they meet the requirements of advances generalist and adult advanced training. Also, all aspects of psychotherapy including CBT, DBT and mindfulness therapy.
