Stepping Out for Mental Health

Eden Private Hospital supports local mental health initiative at Cooroy State School during Mental Health Week.

The staff, students and families of Cooroy State School highly value and support mental health and wellness in the Cooroy community. When Mental Health Week came around in October, the school got in contact with the staff at Eden Private Hospital to see how they could get involved with mental health month!

For 28 days, the school community ‘Stepped Out for Mental Health.' Between the kids and adults, Cooroy State School stepped a staggering 14, 180,093 steps.

Reports from families, teachers and school children alike said the event was a fun way to unite and promote the benefits of physical activity and teamwork on mental health and wellness.

Kirsty Walker, Experienced Senior Teacher at Cooroy State School commented on the generous community spirit shown by Eden Private Hospital and the valuable contributions made during their Mental Health Week Activities.

"As always Jo Munday, the CEO and her fantastic team at Eden Private Hospital support our school. This year it was to donate a beautiful hamper as a prize for our stepping competition," said Kirsty.

"Our Wellbeing Team here at the school decided to award it to Sunny Coast Accountants for their community spirit. Both Eden Private Hospital and Sunny Coast Accountants are amazing ambassadors for mental health in our community."

"The partnership between our organisations shows how education, health and business can all join together to make our community stronger."

Kirsty reports Cooroy State School is looking forward to making their Mental Health Week activities bigger and better in 2021.
